Our Process
While the destination and journey may be unique to each individual, the process for arriving safely is based on a common framework developed through experience and best practices developed over years of guiding numerous others along the way. The combination helps to ensure we have all the tools and techniques needed to assist our clients however we meet them and then we can accurately track our progress and celebrate wins as a team.
The basic framework looks like this. While displayed in a linear manner below, the process is cyclical with every stop at the last milestone becoming an invitation to review and refresh the plan, and follow carefully the process to ensure nothing is left amiss. We’ll work together to continually improve your ourtomes and we will remain vigilant to ensure you get what you need to reach your goals, not only now, but for years to come. As long as it takes, we’ll be with you every step of the way to celebrate milestones and successes, but also to refocus your efforts as life changes.
The start of our process involves taking some time to get to know each other, review important details and make sure everyone is on the same page for what’s expected to make our relationship work. Here we’ll begin to get some basic ideas of things that we could do together to improve or maintain your financial life and decide together if we should work together.
Do you have a junk drawer in your house that gathers all kinds of things from unopened mail, to business cards, old calendars, tools you forget are in it, and more? Most of us have a financial junk drawer as well—and that’s ok. We’ll go through it together and get it cleaned out, deciding what’s important and what can go in the trash can with the phone book that appeared on your porch. Getting organized helps us make sure we’re looking at the most important things, and that you get credit for everything that’s yours.
Now that we’ve got a better handle on where you are and where you want to go (with a bonus of having a cleaned out financial junk drawer!) we can begin seeing exactly what steps you can take to get more of what you want. Using our state-of-the-art planning software, and years of experience your plan begins to take shape as we outline current strengths and weaknesses and give you simple, actionable advice on what to change and what to keep doing.
We’ll decide together what tasks make the most sense to tackle and in what order. You’re free to implement the action steps from your plan yourself anywhere you like, or you can outsource some of the steps to us to be in charge of them. Either way, you call the shots.
At your discretion, we can take responsibility for implementing portions of your completed plan, and will always act in your best interests.
It’s one thing to set a plan in motion, but does it continue to work in the long run? Your plan is a living, breathing concept and as life changes, so must the plan. At least once a year we’ll do a thorough recap of the work we’ve done for you if you put us in charge of implementing parts of your plan. We’ll look forward to celebrating your life wins together and incorporating changes in your financial world into your plan, and show you how the choices you’re making are shaping your future outcomes. We’re always a quick note away from helping in the event of unexpected changes along the way too.
Generating a plan that allows our clients to visualize their own futures is nice, but the work is far from over at that point. Unlike financial professionals that only want to sell you products or have limited tools to help you achieve your goals, we’re happy to walk with you in implementing our recommendations, but more importantly to make sure that the selected strategies and techniques are actually working. Over the course of the year, we’ll be in touch regularly. You can expect to hear from us on a variety of topics throughout the year. Combining a variety of in-person and virtual meetings and digital check-ins, reminders, and e-mails, you’ll have access to us and our resources and can feel confident that you’re on track whenever you need encouragement.
